Wow, its been a while since I was back writing! My apologies! I know it has been a while since I wrote and to be honest, it got me thinking – I’m still growing my business but something you see online a lot is finding a good work-life balance.
The Truth Behind ‘Balance’
To be truthful, isn’t that why we entrepreneurs decided to go out on our own – to gain more control on our time so that we are meeting our professional goals while fitting it into our personal?
I have been reading a lot lately about time management, goal setting and the power of outsourcing, as to be able to implement ideal strategies in my business but if you are anything like me, you are still a newer entrepreneur and are still trying to do it all on our own due to budgetary constraints.
It is true, it comes down to time management mostly – but you also need to be aware of your working style. There are some who thrive from working morning and night while spending the in-between time with their families. There are some, like me, that work best early in the day so aim to have work completed by 4 pm daily – that way family time can be just that – family time!
So the long and the short of it all, you need to sit and truly look at you who you are as a business owner. Set your priorities – make sure it blends well with your work style too. Time Blocks, Timers, Project Management Aides – all these things are helpful, but if they don’t blend with your work style they will be like the latest fashion trend – in one day, out another.
My Why
So what I have done is look at my family – my lifestyle and the client work I love to do – I have sat down and reviewed the tools I have at my disposal and am maxing out their features. This way, I know at the end of each day, that my to-do list is as complete as it needs to be so that when I switch my hat to the family hat – I can truly enjoy the time I have and be present where I am needed.
I would love to hear what you do to figure out your balance – how do you identify the priorities and make sure that you are feeding your business and your personal life equally?
Until Next time!
